Regency Tea Tour
Join Captain Skillicorne (tour guide – Phil) on a leisurely promenade through Regency Cheltenham, stopping to admire and hear the history of many of the spas’ beautiful buildings, glorious gardens, and sites.
Hear anecdotes and stories about the people who visited and lived in the ton – George III, Jane Austen, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Charles Dickens, to name but a few. Discover the entertainment of the day – the balls, concerts, sport, theatres and exhibitions that attracted the high society to this leisurely paradise.
The tour starts outside the town hall at 1:00 pm and ends at the Memsahib Gin & Tea Bar in the Promenade at 2:30 pm.
Here you will be served a unique blend of savoury and sweet Memsahib picnic in a traditional British afternoon tea.
You can also see the portraits and read about the famous Memsahibs, the Anglo-Indian women, all of whom had a connection with Cheltenham.
